When are you planning to leave education?

If you are in Year 7 or 8 it might be a bit later than you think.  At the moment young people can leave education from the age of 16 although most choose not to.  From 2013 the leaving age will be raised to 17 and in 2015 it will go up again to 18.  This doesn't mean that every young person will stay at school.  Many will, just as they do now, but there will still be the options of going to college, starting an apprenticeship or training part time if you are working or volunteering 20 hours or more a week.  If you're worried this might affect  your plans contact your school or Connexions Personal Adviser to find out more.

 Thanks for your help!

Thanks to young people at the 'Clued-up' information point in Crowborough, the 'Connexions Shop' in Crawley and the 'Portslade Youth Forum' for their helpful input into the design of 'Myfuturesussex.com'. and for not being too hard on us!

About myfuturesussex.com

This site is designed to help you make choices about what course(s) you want to do next.  There are loads of choices open to you through any of over 150 schools, colleges and training providers or through local partnerships across Sussex. You can search for the course you want in your local area, look at the details, find out how to apply and check out where it could lead you - whether that is on to another course, into higher education or into a job.

The site  gives you access to information about careers, money and travel, as well as loads of other stuff you need to know before you make a decision.  Once you feel ready you can go into the area  prospectus to look at the courses available in the whole of Sussex or just those local to you.

The Area Prospectus has been designed so that you can see almost all the courses and training opportunities available in Sussex - all on one website.  Sussex colleges, schools and other training companies and organisations can update their details, their courses and other information such as open days directly on to the site so that you can see any changes, often the same or following day.
