Do you know what you want to do when you leave education?

How do you decide?  Who should you talk to ?   Parents, Friends, Teachers, Connexions Adviser?

Clicking on the link to Jobs4U below is a good place to start collecting information and getting ideas.

Once you've found your dream job the next step is to check out how to turn the dream in to reality and come up with a back up plan just in case....You may be aiming to be a singer but if it's a 'No' from Simon this time would you be happy behind the scenes in the entertainment industry or would you aim to get the performance 'buzz' from training, teaching, public relations or sales?  Maybe  you would be happy to sing as a hobby and look at something completely different as a career.

You can chat through all the options with a Connexions Personal Adviser.  Click on the Connexions link  below to find and contact  your nearest Connexions Centre.

Work experience is a great way to get ideas about what you like and dislike about work.  Veryan  is the Sussex site for finding work related learning placements  and you can access it through your school intranet (VLE) using the password you will be given by your school.  Even  if you can't get a placement exactly matching your career plan (stunt artiste and formula one driver have a few health and safety issues)  you will find out if you enjoy being part of a team or not;  whether working with children/outdoors /with animals/with the public really suits you after all or maybe what 9-5 in an office really feels like!
